Wisp Resort and the Deep Creek Lake area received the first snowfall of the season overnight. The snow began to fall around 7:30pm and within a few hours, there were a few inches of snow on the ground. Fun Fact: Because the air temperature and humidity vary greatly across Garrett County, there are always different measurements of snowfall. With Deep Creek Lake unfrozen, this creates more moisture in the air and impacts snow storms (and snowmaking!) Approximately 2 inches of snow feel on the slopes at Wisp Resort -- just enough to cover everything in a beautiful white blanket. As always, our wonderful State Highway Plows were out this morning to be sure the roads were clear and safe! For a live shot of the snow, check out our webcam. We know it won't stick around long but we are hopeful for a cold and snowy winter! Winter is coming...Last Edited by The Wisperer on Monday, October 30, 2017
As Autumn progresses, Wisp Resort begins to shift those seasonal gears. Autumn Glory weekend was the last days of operation for Fantasy Valley Golf Course, Adventure Sports Center's recirculating whitewater course, Mountain Park Cafe, Scenic Chairlift Rides and the Gravity Works Bike Shop. The Mountain Park will continue to operate Saturdays and Sundays thru October with three Canopy Tours, Segway Tours, Mountain Coaster, Archery, Gem Mining, 9-holes of Disc Golf and Orienteering. Lodestone Golf Course will operate daily until further notice. Wisp Escape Games is available daily by reservation only, call 800.462.9477 to reserve a game. Be sure to check our Hours of Operation for exact times.
You may notice our Mountain Operations Crew on the slopes working on lighting, snowmaking lines and other general maintenance to gear up for snowmaking and the coming of winter. Check out the Wisp Web Cam to get a bird's eye view of them in action.
