Wisp's Mountain Ops Crew is getting in position to turn on the snow guns this evening, Sunday, November 19. After watching buckets of rain spill over Garrett County yesterday, the sun rose today with a dusting of snow and much colder temps. It has continued to flurry throughout the day with gusty winds not really allowing for any real accumulation.
With most of the snowmaking efforts focused on the front side, you'll be able to watch the action with our webcam.
Let Winter Begin!
We've got guns blazing on:
With temps creeping into the low to mid-30s, the snow guns shut down about 1pm allowing for approximately 12 hours of snowmaking. Just under 1 million gallons of water was pumped through the system totaling about 7 acre feet of snow on the areas listed above.Last Edited by Wisp Resort on Monday, November 20, 2017

Headliner Comic - Jay Stevens
Jay Stevens has been doing comedy for more than a decade. He's also been digitally entertaining audiences with his hilarious skits and commercial reenactments. Jay's life changed drastically when a video sketch of Stevens getting into a humorous altercation with a police officer, in which Stevens places himself in a police cruiser of an overly intimidating officer, went viral after amassing over 30 million views in just one week! Jay's "Life Is Hilarious" Tour has been selling out all over the country, leaving audiences in stitches. Stevens has the uncanny ability to point out how funny life really is. From standup to sketch comedy, Jay Stevens is a comic you don't want to miss!
Feature Comic - Jamie Utley
Jamie made his professional debut in 2008 at Bear’s Place in Bloomington, IN and has since performed up and down the east from Florida to Indiana in places like Monkey Wrench(KY), Funnybone(WV & OH), and Cozzy's(VA).Last Edited by Wisp Resort on Thursday, November 16, 2017
The expected cold weather did indeed arrive with a dusting of snow this morning, Friday, November 10.
With such a small window and changing winds in this cold snap, it's just too short of a period for us to lay down anything that's going to stick around. With warm weather and precipitation forecasted in the next few days, we are looking for a bigger window to work with for snowmaking.
With over $600,000 invested on the hill this past summer, most of that is underground so you won't be able to see the improvements until we fire up the snowmaking system. None the less, here's a list of all the hard work our Mountain Ops Crew did:
3,240’ feet of electrical wires that provided power to various lifts and snowmaking operations was replaced and armored.
Our Team is just as anxious as all you skiers and snowboarders to flip the switch and start cranking out the snow! Bring on Winter!Last Edited by Wisp Resort on Friday, November 10, 2017
