Wisp Resort opened today in the winter of 1954.1955 making this the 63rd winter of operations in the state of Maryland. Even Google wished us Happy Birthday -- We wish for more cold and more snow this winter!Last Edited by The Wisperer on Sunday, December 10, 2017
Wwoooo-weeeee, the Mountain Ops Team has been cranking out the snow for over 40 hours as of noon today, Friday, December 8 and the mountain looks B-U-tiful! The wonderful humming sound of the snow guns can be heard all around the resort. We are currently pumping 8,500 gallons per minute through the system -- that's PER MINUTE! Since we started the snowmaking system up at approximately 10:00pm Wednesday, December 6, we have pumped 9 million gallons of water thus far. And lots more to go...
Check the Mountain Report to find out exactly what trails we are making snow on.

Hard-core snowmaking continues around the mountain and the piles are getting larger by the hour. Mountains Ops has reported that a total of 18 million gallons of water has been pumped since firing up this round. Keep up the awesome efforts guys (sorry, no ladies on the team)!
Take a look at these images from this evening - there's just something so serene and calming about the white-noise of snow guns at night and watching the snow fall to the ground.Last Edited by The Wisperer on Friday, December 08, 2017
Wisp's Mountain Ops Team is preparing to turn on the snowmkaing system. Temperatures are steadily dropping and as soon as conditions are right, we're firing up!
Stay tuned for full report.
Snowmaking is underway! Our Mountain Ops Team will be cranking out as much snow as possible for as long as possible.
