More Terrain Opening Soon

Update - Thursday, December 28, 1:00pm

The final push is on to open East Ridge tomorrow, Friday, December 29!  Yes, literally - PUSH - Our Groomer Team will be pushing snow all night to manicure Main Street, Eye Opener, Highline Pass and Down Under for your skiing and riding pleasure.  Snowmakers have done an amazing job producing a great snow product - check out the pics below to prove it!  Now giddy up Groomers - we are excited to see your handy work.  Be sure to check our Daily Mountain Report for exact trail openings, operating times and more.  And stay tuned on the blog for additional information.

Word from Yesterday

The Snowmaking Crew is cranking out the snow with the system wide-open on most of the mountain thanks to these awesome cold temperatures.  As of 6:00am today, since we began this round of snowmaking on December 25, we have pumped 11 million gallons of water over the past 34 hours allowing us to lay down a solid base on terrain that will be opening soon.  The big question - when will the East Ridge open?  We intend to open the East Ridge on Friday, December 29.  While it is still tentative, that is our goal and our Mountain Ops Team is working tirelessly to make that happen.  Be sure to stay up-to-date on terrain opening, snowmaking and more on the Daily Mountain Report.

Stay Warm

Stay safe and warm in these frigid temps by outfitting yourself with warm layers, protective accessories and more.  Stop by Outdoor Elements, located on the lower level of the McHenry Lodge, to get all the right gear.

Eat.  Drink.  Be Merry.  Thaw Out.

DC's Bar & Restaurant has debut the winter menus, seasonal drink menu and new weekly specials.  Located on the upper level of the McHenry Lodge, you can stop in to thaw out, refuel and indulge in a great meal or tasty cocktail.

Snowmaking is back!

The Snowmaking Crew is back at it again!  The system got fired up about 10pm last night, December 25, and will continue as weather / winds allow.  We only plan to run snowmaking on Face and Squirrel during operating hours today so dress appropriately.  East Ridge snowguns are blazing and the piles continue to grow...

Snowmaking Update

As of 4:00pm, Tuesday, December 26, snowmaking has had a very productive day.  The East Ridge -- Mainstreet, Eye Opener, Highline Pass and Down Under -- is progressing nicely.  We will have an update on additional terrain opening and timeline tomorrow morning, December 27.  Stay tuned...

Mountain Park

The other winter wonderland known as the Mountain Park offers Snow Tubing, Ice Skating and the Mountain Coaster.  Reservations are recommended for Snow Tubing as sessions may sell out - purchase ticket online here.

Wisp Escape Games

If you need to thaw out from the cold temps, try our NEW Wisp Escape Games.  What is an Escape Game?  An Escape Game is a reality game where players are put in a room and must use team work and problem solving to complete puzzles with clues, hints and strategy to 'escape' the room in a set amount of time.  You don't need to be a rocket scientist or mathematician to play - just communicate, work together and have FUN!  Reservations within 48 hours of game day can be made over-the-phone by calling 844.472.2759 or outside of 48 hours online here.

Humming Along

Wwoooo-weeeee, the Mountain Ops Team has been cranking out the snow for over 40 hours as of noon today, Friday, December 8 and the mountain looks B-U-tiful!  The wonderful humming sound of the snow guns can be heard all around the resort.  We are currently pumping 8,500 gallons per minute through the system -- that's PER MINUTE!  Since we started the snowmaking system up at approximately 10:00pm Wednesday, December 6, we have pumped 9 million gallons of water thus far.  And lots more to go...

Check the Mountain Report to find out exactly what trails we are making snow on.

Tentative Opening Day >> Saturday, December 16, 2018, weather permitting.

Check our live and static web cams to see all the action.

Update:  December 8, 7:42pm

Hard-core snowmaking continues around the mountain and the piles are getting larger by the hour.  Mountains Ops has reported that a total of 18 million gallons of water has been pumped since firing up this round.  Keep up the awesome efforts guys (sorry, no ladies on the team)!

Take a look at these images from this evening - there's just something so serene and calming about the white-noise of snow guns at night and watching the snow fall to the ground.
