The Adventure Sports Center International's (ASCI) mountaintop recirculating whitewater course is open for the season! This unique attraction offers whitewater rafting, kayaking, duckying (inflatable kayaks) and river boarding on Class II - III rapids in a controlled environment.
The man-made course is 1/3 mile long with a 24 vertical foot drop and features 6 variable wave shapers throughout the course that can be adjusted without interrupting operations. ASCI's natural look and feel comes from over 40 million pounds of on-site excavated rock that line the riverbed and allow for great river-side spectating. Four 530-hp pumps get the water moving in the starting pond and send it down river to end up in the lower pond. Once rafters run the course they land in the lower pond then paddle their way onto the custom-made conveyor carpet that will bring them back up to the starting pond to run the course again.
No problem! The recirculating whitewater course is great for beginners and families because it simulates a real river experience with added safety and comfort features including river-side monitors and close proximity to facilities such as restrooms and showers. The Class II - III rapids are ideal for novice rafters and kayakers while those looking for extra thrills can try river boarding or duckying. Whitewater rafting requires a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Check our rates here.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking are the most common ways to ride the rapids but ASCI offers two alternative ways to get down the river - duckies and river boards! Duckies are inflatable kayaks that don't require a 'skirt' or master Eskimo roll. River boards are a boogie board for rapids that you ride down on your stomach with flippers on your feet. Both duckies and river boards require a first time guide assist session and a minimum age of 16.

Spring is a time of new beginnings, awakenings, renewal and motivation. It's a time to finish projects underway and start new ones and that's exactly what The Lodge at Wisp is doing. As part of a 3 year $3.7 million renovation, The Lodge at Wisp is ticking items off of their punch list!
Last fall, the hotel formerly known as the Wisp Resort Hotel, introduced a newly branded property complete with 100 renovated rooms, new Porte Cochere along with a new Front Desk and check-in area as well as a new name and logo.
Over the winter, The Lodge at Wisp completed the new slopeside Courtyard North featuring a fire pit and pergola. The fitness center was relocated to the first floor and boasts wall-to-wall windows that look onto the waterfall and slopes.
Currently, the monument sign is under construction and will be a lite two-sided logo sign with stone pillars which will accentuate the new entrance of the hotel. Renovations on all 69 rooms in the lodge section are underway and set to be complete by the end of May with new paint, wall coverings, artwork featuring local photography, modern bedroom and living area furnishings, plush bed linens, and upgraded lighting and fixtures. The conference and meeting rooms are also receiving upgrades along with new audio visual equipment that is slated for completion by end of June 2017.
We welcome you to come see the new improvements!Last Edited by The Wisperer on Monday, May 08, 2017
