About Garrett Lakes Arts Festival: for almost 30
performance seasons, GLAF has been known for bringing high quality performance
art and arts education to Garrett County. GLAF performances range from dance,
big band jazz, bluegrass to classical music. GLAF is sponsored in part by grant
funding from the Maryland State Arts Council and Garrett County Arts Council.
The summer jewel of Garrett County is the 3,900 acre Deep Creek Lake. With it's 65 miles of shoreline, there are a few public accessible points on the lake and one true sandy beach area located at Deep Creek Lake State Park. While you can splash around from the water's edge, most lake lovers enjoy being on the water and with the Wisp-managed Beach Hut at Deep Creek Lake State Park, we've made it easy to rent paddleboards, kayaks and canoes for exploring the sparkling waters. Each rental comes with a personal flotation device and paddle along with a quick tutorial from our staff if you're trying a sport for the first time. Launching your watercraft from the State Park beach, you'll have various routes to chose from - the wide-open lake (beware of motorboat traffic), the shoreline along the State Park or the quiet cove under the State Park Bridge.
The Beach Hut also offers those beach essentials like hats, sunscreen, tubes, beach chairs, snacks, cold drinks and the obligatory ice cream!
