Job Duties: The list below represents the majority of the tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment here at Wisp. It is not intended to represent all of the tasks because we cannot predict all of the variety of challenges we must face in providing the product our guests expects. When we do ask for your assistance in any job, we expect an enthusiastic and cooperative response. Responsibilities of a Lift Attendant: Prior to your assignment to work as a lift attendant, you will view certain training films concerning safety and lift operations. You will also be trained to work in the various job functions at both the loading and unloading stations of one or more lifts. You will also be responsible to:
Responsibilities of a Lift Operator: Lift operators are responsible for all of the same duties as a lift attendant plus:
Greeting and Assisting Guests. Greeting and assisting the guests requires the skills of a host or hostess. This involves greeting guests, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally. You will also be required to provide timely and accurate information concerning slope conditions, area activities, and other related information intended to help the guest enjoy their stay. It is very important to recognize that to be successful as a lift operator, you must be comfortable with and enthusiastic about constant interaction with our guests. Working Schedules: When conditions are normal, you can expect to work 32 to 40 hours per week. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six of seven days per week. During slower periods, your work schedule may be reduced to three or four days per week. Hours of operation may run from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Work shifts can fall anywhere in those time frames. You can expect to work most weekends and holidays. We will attempt to offer consecutive days off and accommodate special scheduling requests, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to satisfy all requests. Work schedules, staffing levels, and weather conditions will dictate when lunches and breaks will be taken. You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated work area at the scheduled time. As you arrange for transportation, please keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snow packed, ice covered road surfaces, so be sure to use caution and allow extra time for you travel. Uniforms: Ski lift attendants and operators are expected to comply with all company policies and procedures. We recommend you review those policies and procedures, as outlined in the Employee Handbook, as part of the job application process. Pay special attention to the dress and appearance requirements. The lift operator represents a model for proper conduct for both the guests and other employees. You are expected to be aware of your conduct at all times. Any violation of the policies may result in termination of employment regardless of whether the violation occurred on a working or non-working day. As an area employee, the lift operator has the most contact with the public of all those involved with the mountain. We want to make every skier’s day at Wisp as enjoyable as possible. Your personal behavior, appearance, and communication with the public are of critical importance. Friendliness is a condition of employment. Be polite when checking tickets. Answer questions from the public as best as you can or refer them to someone who can answer the question when you can’t. Hard and physically demanding work is sometimes a part of your job. Being up to the task is expected of you. The most difficult part of the job however is dealing with boredom. Alertness at all times is a must, remember, you are responsible for the safety of the guests riding the lifts.
