Join the Team!

The Deep Creek Winter Sports Team that is!  Registration for the 2018.2019 Winter Season is now open.

The Deep Creek Winter Sports Team (DCWST) is a parent-run, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the development of young athletes in the winter sports of alpine ski racing and snowboarding.

If you have children, grandchildren, relatives or friends ages 7 to 18 who are avid/aspiring skiers or snowboarders, this is an excellent winter activity to take them to the next level of proficiency in their chosen sport. Joining DCWST also affords opportunities to compete regionally and locally in sanctioned ski races and snowboard competitions. This year the team is also offering a "New Members" reduced dues rate for first time members.

DCWST has been a mainstay at Wisp Resort for the past 15 years as a result of its focus on athlete-skills development in a structured and supportive environment. Information about the team is available on its website, http://www.dcwst.org/. Registration is completed online at http://dcwst.org.leag1.com/.

New this year is a DCWST Master's Membership for ski-racers age 19 and older who can't give up their passion for the sport and wish to practice running gates in a challenging environment on Tuesday and Friday evenings!

Autumn Glory Festival Week

Celebrate the glory of Autumn Wed. - Sun., October 10 – 14 with 5 days of activities and events: concerts, band competitions, craft show, art displays and performances, a Fireman’s parade and the big event - the Grand Feature Parade!

Best Ways to take in the foliage:

Wisp's Mountain Park

Take to the air to get eye-level with the turning leaves and soak in the mountain views on a Scenic Chairlift Ride or Canopy Tour.  Check operating hours or call 844.472.2759 before visiting.  Don't forget your camera!

Last Weekend to Whitewater Raft at Wisp Resort

Experience the world's only mountaintop re-circulating whitewater course at the Adventure Sports Center atop Wisp Resort.  Whether you're riding the rapids or watching from the shore, this unique attraction has scenic mountain views into neighboring states.  Call 844.472.2759 for reservations.  Don't miss the annual Great Pumpkin Race on Sunday, Oct 14, when the course closes and pumpkins race to raise funds for Hospice of Garrett County.

Take a Scenic Drive

With an assortment of beautiful fall leaves changing throughout the county, we love to watch the White Oak, which is the Maryland State Tree, turn from lively green to a deep purplish red hue.  A driving excursion around Deep Creek Lake is the one of the best ways to experience all the colors.  Take a drive through Garrett County’s scenic byways, quaint small towns, historical attractions, and wind your way around Western Maryland’s most prized landscape, Deep Creek Lake:

Visit Garrett County Chamber of Commerce website for full details.
