164 Million Gallons...Oh My!

This has been a record year for snowmaking at Wisp Resort.  The Mountain Ops team pumped out 11 million gallons of water over the weekend, leaving the mountain with a strong base.  Since snowmaking began in the 2018.19 Winter season, we have pumped 164 million gallons! Snowmaking conditions have ceased for the next few days, but Mother Nature has blessed us with a solid inch of fresh snow on the mountain and more to come throughout the week.  Come join us today on the slopes until 5pm.  Night skiing will resume tomorrow, Tuesday February 12.

Mountain Coaster is Back Up and Running

The Mountain Coaster reopens today at 10am after a tree took out part of the course in an ice storm two weeks ago.  The State of Maryland has cleared the track for safety and it is back in action! For those of you who have never had the opportunity to ride the mountain coaster in the winter, we encourage you to give it a try.  Control your speed as you fly over top of skiers and boarders cruising the slopes, while gliding along the treetops.

Flakes are Flying on the Mountain

Off to an early start for snowmaking today!  The Wisp Resort Mountain Ops crew was able to get the guns cranking at about 3:30pm today and are hoping to continue through Sunday.  So throw your snow gear in the car and head over to Wisp Resort after work today for some fresh snow and a great time. We will rebuild!

Beautiful Weekend Ahead!

With the ski slopes open this evening until 9pm and sun crawling across the mountain, it is time to get on your gear and head over to Wisp Resort!  Sunshine returning this afternoon after a few overcast days.  Highs reaching around 40 degrees Fahrenheit today, dropping down to 5 degrees this evening which leaves us with perfect conditions for snowmaking.  Saturday will be a beautiful day full of sunshine and a high of 20.  Sunday looking great as well with a high of 26, clouds in the morning and sunshine peeking its head out in the early afternoon.  All open trails are groomed besides Face.  The Mountain Ops team is pressuring up snowmaking guns as we speak, waiting until temperatures get low enough this afternoon to start pumping out snow.  Once we get the snow guns blasting, we are hoping to keep them on through Sunday.

In the 2018.19 Winter season, Wisp Resort has run the snowmaking system for a total of 842 hours in 41 days. This has allowed Wisp Resort's snowmaking team to pump 153 million gallons of water in the production of 1000 acre feet of snow. This is the most we have been able to run the snowmaking system in the last 8 years.  Because the weather has allowed us to produce this much - we still have tons of snow!  Punxsutawney Phil must have been short sighted, just seeing the last few days of warm temperatures, because we still have plenty of winter to enjoy.

Come join us this weekend for our weekly events: Friday Night Tap Takeover and #ApresWisp.

This week's Friday Night Tap Takeover features Bell's Brewing Company.  Come join us tonight from 7pm to 10pm in Alpine Bar & Wispers Bar & Grill at Wisp Resort. Reps will be handing out Bells Brewing swag. $4.99 Drink special on Bells craft beer options.

This week's #ApresWisp theme is "80's Vintage Ski Party."  Join us for the BIGGEST party of the season!! Fluorescent clothing and accessories suggested. Come kick off this Après Ski party in your best vintage one-piece ski suit! There will be an 80's ski suit competition, onsite hairdressers offering a variety of 80's styles ($15-$20 for an awesome 80's hair updo), Aperol, Mionetto Prosecco, and Ole Smoky Moonshine $5.99 drink specials, giveaways, and a live DJ spinning jams from the 1980's. This event will take place in Alpine Bar (formerly DC's), this Saturday, February 9 from 3pm-6pm.  We'll see you on the mountain!

Opening Delay Today

Opening Delay: The Mountain is having a delay on opening this morning for skiing and boarding due to rain damage to slopes and lift unload ramps. Our number one priority at Wisp Resort is keeping our guests and employees safe. Our team is working on the challenge. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

Keep Our Mountain Clean

We want to remind all employees and guests that it is all of our responsibility to be good stewards of the land by putting trash into a receptacle.  There may be less receptacles around the mountain and for good reasons – reduce costs, keep jobs focused on their main responsibilities, and promote recycling.  If you elect to carry food or beverage on the mountain, we simply ask that you ‘Pack it in. Pack it out.’ and find a receptacle near a maintained building.  Please dispose of waste properly and respect our environment.

Blue Skies Keep Coming!

It is another gorgeous day in the Deep Creek Lake area today, with blue skies as far as you can see.  We had a ton of fun up here over the weekend with our 1st Black Strap Rail Jam of the season and an electric accordion player getting us in the singing spirit at #ApresWisp.  Today's high will be 48 degrees, mostly sunny for the rest of the day with a few clouds rolling in around the evening.  With warmer temperatures today than we've seen in a few weeks, it is a perfect day to get out on the mountain.  As per the usual, there is no night skiing on Mondays, so the Mountain will close at 5pm today.  Get over here before the afternoon crowd and try some of our famous Maryland Crab Poutine at Wispers Bar & Grill and shop for a new pair of boots at Outdoor Elements.  We will see you soon!

Snowmageddon Weekend

The Deep Creek Lake area is getting pounded with the white stuff today! With temperatures rising up through the teens, and a break in snowfall later in the day - this is one of the best opportunities this season to relax in the mountains.  With several inches of snow accumulation coming in last night and more on the way, we are looking at about 4 more inches to lay by this evening.  This means a weekend of POWDER for you!  If you haven't booked your hotel rooms yet, click HERE before we sell out.  Click HERE to skip the line and get your lift tickets ahead of time, making your way out on the slopes before the crowd.  Be sure to drive with caution on your way to visit us and we'll see you on the slopes.
