Cue the Happy Snow Dance!

We’re excited to see more SNOW in the forecast!

In addition to the expected 2-3” of natural snowfall, snowmaking will resume, and we’ll continue adding to our base.  We’re hopeful the cold snap will continue throughout the weekend, allowing our mountain ops team to make the magic happen and expand snowmaking to more terrain. It is going to be an excellent weekend for skiing at Wisp Resort—you don’t want to miss it!

Just a few reminders:

Blind Skier 50th Anniversary

We are honored to host The Blind Skier 50th Anniversary Gala by Deep Creek Lake Lion’s Club.  The Lion’s Club has planned a glamourous night on Tuesday, February 7, including guest speakers, dinner, dancing, fireworks, and silent auction.

The program was brought to Deep Creek Lake in 1973 after Bill Thoman, former mountain manager of Wisp Resort, and Jay Kamineck, a ski instructor, were skiing in Colorado when they saw sighted volunteers assisting young people with vision challenges in skiing down a mountainside.  The club has since taught hundreds of visually impaired children to downhill ski.

To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, the gala will include keynote by Brian McKeever, paralympic gold medalist in cross-country skiing, dinner and cash bar, and an awards program to recognize long-time all-stars to the program.

Hero's Day Returns January 6

With the return of Hero's Day, we also anticipate and welcome the return of cold weather for snowmaking. What a wacky week of weather during the holiday period - from single digits to mid-50s - Mother Nature always keeps us on our toes. Our Mountain Operations Teams are poised to turn the snow guns on and build back the base along with expanding to other terrain. Our mission is to open as much terrain as possible, as soon as possible. #thankasnowmaker #highfiveagroomer

Wisp Resort is proud to celebrate Hero’s Day on Friday, January 6 in honor of first responders including military, fire, police, and rescue personnel (EMS). There are many heroes in the world, and Wisp Resort is saving this special day to provide complimentary lift tickets and Snow Tubing sessions for eligible first responders. Additional offers for the Hero and their immediate family members include $34 lift tickets, half-price ski and snowboard rentals, lessons, snow tubing sessions, along with rooms at the Lodge at Wisp starting at just $129 per night.
